15 Little Things Every Person With Anxiety Needs
Having anxiety is like having butterflies in your stomach for any and every given reason, only they’re not friendly, flirty butterflies, they’re more like angry bees. I was recording videos (for the first time ever) last week for From Struggle to Shine (a program where I teach entrepreneurs to strategize stories to build deeper connections with and more support from their audiences) and I felt like said bees were going to be the death of me. There’s physical discomfort – stomach churning, heart racing – topped with mental chaos, not one thought after the other, but all together to create a nonstop buzz..
What do I say? How many freaking times am I going to need to record this before I get it? Will my clients think I’m an idiot? Are my forehead wrinkles showing? I’m too young for forehead wrinkles. Do I really need to do video content? (Yes Allyn, you do) Why is this so hard? I should be able to do this. I’m even more frustrated because this should be easy and it’s hard. Is this how my voice sounds in real life? Ugh.
If you have anxiety, you get it. I’ve been so impressed by how many brands and products have popped up that support anxiety, so I had to share some of my favorites with you:
Here are 15 little things every person with anxiety needs:
1.) Mental booboos deserve bandaids too. These are temporary and adorable from Motivational Tattoo ($7).
2.) A calming coloring book from Urban Outfitters ($10).
3.) I don’t think the phrase “keep calm” works on anyone, anxiety present or not, but just to be safe, grab this from Ice Cream Tees ($15).
4.) These tracker planner stickers from Disco Prints that will help you identify patterns and triggers, which is a strategy that’s helped me get a better handle on my anxiety ($5).
5.) The neck’s best thing for when you find your shoulders have slid up to your ear lobes from Uncommon Goods is this aromatherapeutic wrap ($25).
6.) It’s the comforting power of chocolate with the anxiety relief factor of lavender from Luxury Fine Foods. WIN WIN. ($10)
7.) I thought I was the only one who thinks small talk is ridiculously hard. It’s okay to Be Brutal ($2).
8.) My exact composition. This mug from Smidge Of Creativity gets it ($10).
9.) We like prints that say it like it is, like this one from Vicious Prints ($5).
10.) A beautiful (jewel tones!) To Do Planner for better mental health and wellbeing from The Mind Organiser ($8)
11.) You have no idea how much your friend with anxiety will appreciate this card from With Love ($4).
12.) This is called Anxiety Magic Oil, so no explanation needed – from Aquarian Soul ($12).
13.) I don’t even like vegetables (like at all), so I don’t think food is my best bet for an anxiety reduction strategy, but it might be for you! By Gill Paul from Francesca’s ($10).
14.) I didn’t know spinning meditation rings were a thing until right now (they help focus your thoughts and intentions), but I certainly need one like this beauty from ByCila Jewelry ($62).
15.) And to end on a gem note, the pretty purple lepidolite stones in this calming bracelet from The Hippie Ship bring gentleness and balanced energy ($17). Plus, it’ll remind you that you are always a gem! <3
