2 Things That Helped Me Find Self-Care and Healing at New York Fashion Week

What’s in this post: A fashionable, energy healing statement necklace along with skincare products formulated especially for travel that both helped me take better care of myself this time around at New York Fashion Week.  The Look: [sp] Blue Raw Cut Hemimorphite Necklace from Joree & Jane // Similar Little Black Dress (ON SALE – $93.00) // Missguided Thigh High Boots ($114.00) // [sp] Activa Wood Sunglasses from Public Sunglasses ($79.00) // [c/o] Mimi Cork Vegan Teal/Croc Cross Body from Rok Cork ($178.00) // Styled by: Christina Stein Imberlina Simply put, healing is “the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again”. It’s normally an afterthought. We scrape our knee and then need a bandaid. We misstep when running and then need time for our muscle to heal before going back at it again. We get back from a week of traveling and then need a few days to recover. But is that the way we should be doing it? There are

10 Things to Treat Yourself to This Month

Disclaimer: If you don’t like people who don’t like fall, proceed with caution. However, even if you love me a little less after you read this, you’re absolutely bound to fall in love with a few of these ideas for what to treat yourself to this month. After all, Gem, you deserve it! Getting rejected How many things do we shy away from because we’re afraid to be told “no” or an answer other than the one we want to hear? A lot. If there’s anything the past few weeks have taught me, it’s that rejection isn’t so bad and when you stop letting that fear rule you (and maybe even start conquering it), pretty cool things can happen. Head to VLOG 2 to see what happened when I made it my goal to get rejected! 😉 A pair of bright, vibrant shoes What better way to transition from summer

From Struggle to Shine: Seed Body Care

In this Post: Meet Rebecca of Seed Body Care who started the brand with her husband after struggling with infertility. Their story is one of so much strength. As you’ll see below, I’m a huge fan of the Satin Lip Glosses! Shop Seed’s all natural seed based formulas with the code SeedGem for 20% off! The other day, I can’t remember where I read it, but it was something about how we should have “launch showers” for when people in our lives start businesses – just like a baby shower, or wedding shower, or housewarming party, etc. I was like, “OH HELL YES”. I mean, you can have a launch party, but let’s face it, when you’re starting out, you’re just crossing your fingers tightly hoping you break even with what you have to dish out to hold an event like that. Starting a business is a big freaking deal. It’s a monumental

Summer Skincare Essentials

As I’m putting together all my posts from my Florida vacation, I wanted to share with you a few of the products that I found exceptionally helpful for taking care of my skin in the hot southern weather! It’s safe to say these all helped me look a little bit less of a hot mess than usual! And of course, each brand has a pretty neat story as to how they all started. 🙂 1.) Handy Candy Wipes from Robin McGraw Revelation ($1.45) “Sometimes life is tough. Let’s make it easier and have some fun too!” is Robin McGraw’s motto for her delightful Me O’ My collection inspired by her grand kids! I’ll tell you a bit more about Robin’s inspiring story below (or you can read it towards the bottom of this post), but for now, can we just talk about how cute this packaging is?! I carried a pack

Getting Clear About You

In this post: You’ll find a note on leaning into things that make you feel the most like yourself (even when it’s not always easy), skin-clearing organic products that bring out your true self, and the story of a strong woman who turned the loss of her mother into a movement for women to take better care of themselves. What does being yourself even mean? To be honest, I’m not totally sure. I’m still trying to figure out who I am. But, I know it means staying away from anything that makes you feel like less and pulling yourself closer to things that make you feel like more. It also means standing firm in the things that make you feel more alive, more blissful, more clear, and more capable. For me, that means stuff like working out and taking care of my skin. It means doing those things even when

10 Things to Treat Yourself to This Month

It’s a precious time of year, one that we must be careful not to get swept away in and take for granted. A small, sweet space between the promises of a new year and the lessons (and stories!) from the one at hand. This month’s 10 Things to Treat Yourself to roundup is a beautiful balance of #GemFinds to help you honor the space between no longer and not yet to set a powerful, but present tone for 2017! 1.) A Statement That Says, “Let’s Cut to the Chase” I’m declaring 2017 the year of directness. No more sugar coating, no more dancing around someone else’s feelings, no more hiding your shine out of fear. The Cut to the Chase Necklace from 7 Charming Sisters is just the reminder you need to protect your own sparkle and not let anyone else waste your shine or your time! If this regal blue piece

10 Things to Treat Yourself to this Month (That Do Not Include Pumpkin Spice Anything)

Fall is in the air and while I can get excited about adorable booties (all of my favorites are on my STEP Pinterest board) and chic cozy sweaters (this girl’s got a board for those too), the crisp, cold air is just not my style. So, while everyone else is drooling over dead leaves and anything with the wordage “pumpkin spice” on it, I found a few less basic (did I really just say basic?) things that are perfect for showing yourself a little extra love and indulgence this month… And none of them are pumpkin spice related, promise! =P 1.) Caramel Apple Twizzlers: Move over pumpkin spice everything. Caramel apple is the all time fall flavor. These babies are incredible. Last week, I made a special trip to Target just to buy 5 packs. Not. Even. Joking. ($1.00 for an 8 Pack at Target) 2.) A dress you can style 30 ways:

A Traveling Beauty Routine for Self-Care

To be honest, unless I’m taking outfit photos or heading to an event, rarely do I clock more than 15 minutes in front of the mirror. Yes, it might take me a long time to “get ready” and I’m pretty much 5 minutes late for everything, but you can’t blame that on my primping and prepping. It’s usually an “I can totally knock this email out before I go or craft this Instagram post before I leave” kind of thing. However, when I’m on vacation, there’s something so rejuvenating about slipping back into my lengthy, pre- “I’m an entrepreneur and have no time for myself” kind of routine. Those 60 or so minutes aren’t clocked in front of the mirror with an attempt to impress anyone, to cover up or conceal my imperfections, or even to look adequate for the Instagram pictures I’ll likely be snapping later. It’s me time. It’s time to notice
