Spending a Day with Fear (And Why We’re Now Friends)

For awhile, I thought fear was a real asshole – one of those toxic people that I just couldn’t have terrorizing my life anymore. Like, here I am trying to dream all these big dreams, do all this cool shit, and take big leaps, and fear’s gotta be all, “no you can’t”, “you’re not good enough”, “you’re going to screw everything up” and “get a real job”. And we’re not supposed to give those negative voices in our head a turn to speak, right? So I just shut fear up, which didn’t really work out so well because covering fear up is not only exhausting, but frustrating – like the pimple that no matter how much concealer you put on it, it just keeps breaking through, ugh! Then, in October I had the opportunity to attend the Fearless Warrior Yoga Conference. “Perfect!” I thought. “Teach me how to ditch my

Meet The Kid Entrepreneurs Who Are Making A Difference!

A little over a year ago I received an email from a woman who owned an online based kids sock company out of Miami, Florida. This was an incredibly busy time for me, but, although I didn’t think I had the time to adequately spend on a new client, I hate to overlook any potential client inquiries. Especially, a referral from a previous client. Anyway, I took a quick peek and learned a little bit about Are You Kidding Co., the kids sock start-up that was run by two kid entrepreneurs, Brandon and Sebastian, with help from their mom, Rachel Martinez. I know what you’re thinking. Kids can’t run a company. Well, you are partially right- kids can’t run a company on their own if they are still in school full time and well, under the age of 10. These kids have been designing all of the socks for Are You

Taking Back Our Time at the Body Love Tour

Have you ever thought about how much time getting ready takes you? How long in the morning before work? How much time you spend getting ready to go out to dinner? Add it all up and you’ll find that women spend approximately 135 days, 3726 hours, 223560 minutes, and 13,413,600 seconds in their lifetime getting ready. THAT’S A LONG TIME! Why do we do it? Who do we do it for? What exactly is it that makes us give up this much of our lives prepping our appearance? I hadn’t taken this time into consideration either until I started coordinating a client’s involvement in a recent event. Meet the Body Love Tour, hosted by Lindsey Smith and Amie Olson of Promoting Natural Health, where “each event is designed to give women the freedom to express themselves and be who they are.” The mission: changing the way women feel about themselves and their bodies. “One by one we

MODEL: Couture Gowns, Big Hair & Abandoned Apartments

An inside look on what you don’t know about photo shoots: Alarm goes off. It’s 4:00am. (Hits Snooze). 4:15am. There’s the alarm again. Ugh. (rolls out of bed). It’s a Thursday morning. Still pitch black outside by the way. I throw on an oversized pink blouse, leggings, and boots – trying to look at least half put together. 5:00am and we hit the road. It’s off to Fort Wayne, Indiana (normally a 5 hour drive) for a photo shoot with Willyum Photography. Big shout out to Shaun Novak for being my road trip buddy for the day (side note – he makes music and has an absolutely phenomenal voice that you should check out here). Anyways, of course this is a shoot for my all time favorite fashion designer, Andrea Howell of Tidal Cool Creations. I mean, I don’t just take day trips like this for anyone! When you model for TCC,

RECAP: Tidal Cool Spa Day

Manis, massages, shopping, and photo shoots – doesn’t that should so fabulous and relaxing?  Well, it was! If you missed Tidal Cool Spa Day on 11/22, shame on you. But, don’t worry. I’m recapping all the details, so it won’t feel like you missed a thing!  Despite some morning travel setbacks, the Pretty Living girls finally made it to the Hildebrandt Artist Collective in Cleveland, OH for Spa day on Friday! The event was hosted by local Cleveland Fashion Designer, Andrea Howell of Tidal Cool Creations, produced by Pretty Living PR, and benefitted the Philippinne Red Cross to aid in offering relief to Typhoon Haiyan survivors.  Check out the main features of the event:

An Evening Filled with Fashion & Fantasy

I know, I know, I’ve been slacking on my blog posts, but that’s only because so many exciting things have been happening with Pretty Living PR! As a prime example, this past Tuesday we held a glamorous event filled with Fashion and Fantasy to launch the second issue of Pretty Living Magazine.  The sparkling evening, benefitting Make-A-Wish®, was held at Perlé in Market Square. We packed the venue with celebrity guests, shopping vendors, paparazzi, and other fabulous attendees. Take a look at some of my favorite moments from the event: First things first, as a former ballerina, I cannot get over the lavender tutu custom designed for me by Tidal Cool Creations. How stunning is this?

Fashion, Fire Dancers & Fast Cars, Oh My!

On Saturday, June 29th, Maniac Magazine hosted their 8th annual White Party at The Smart House on Mt. Washington. The event was sponsored by Lexus of North Hills and benefitted A Child’s Place at Mercy. Feeling like I landed in Hollywood instead of driving up the hills of Pittsburgh, this year’s white party was definitely a huge hit. My favorite part of the night? The chic fashion show with flirty styles from Jupe Boutique directed by Pittsburgh fashion blogger Stephanie Campbell from Glam and Graffiti.

Bikini’s & Martini’s

Rain or shine, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year nominee, Racheallee Lacek, was beyond determined that the Bikini’s and Martini’s event held on Tuesday, June 25th was going to be a success no matter what!   Originally scheduled to take place at Skybar Pittsburgh, the event was moved downstairs to Diesel Club Lounge due to inclement weather. In exchange for a $20 donation to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, guests received light appetizers, a complimentary SKY vodka cocktail, and access to the bikini fashion show. “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign is a fundraising competition in communities across the U.S. in which participants vie for the title of Man or Woman of the Year. They raise funds for blood cancer research in honor of local children who are blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. The titles are
