At the heart of historical downtown Little Italy in Cleveland, one can find a true shopping gem – Tre Sorelle Boutique. From providing a personal styling experience to producing exquisite fashion shows within the community, Tre Sorelle is dedicated to inspiring confidence and creative expression in females.
The boutique’s one-of-a-kind women’s clothing, accessories and home décor pieces are not only inspired by Italian runway collections, but by designers from all over the world. With items ranging from high fashion statement pieces to stylish basics, this charming garden themed shop has a wide variety of options even the most devoted fashionista will adore.
Owned by Italian bombshell and fashion guru, Christina Cavotta, Tre Sorelle was inspired by the two generations of fashionable Italian women who raised her. In August of 2011, Christina transformed the old storefront into a fashion forward clothing boutique and named it “Tre Sorelle”, which means “Three sisters” in Italian. I recently caught up with Christina to chat about the Tre Sorelle shopping experience and what’s in store of the boutique’s future!
Allyn Lewis: How do you select what pieces to carry in Tre Sorelle?
Christina Covatta: The items are mostly from New York. I like to travel there a few times a year to choose the items. When I can’t get there, I have vendors send me catalogues of the new items for each season. I am extremely attracted to bold and unique patterns. My store has developed a reputation for having only three sizes of each style and it is not likely you will find the exact same merchandise anywhere else in the Cleveland area.
AL: What kind of experience can someone expect when shopping at Tre?
CC: Friendly, laid back and calming atmosphere. Yes, we would love for you to walk out the door with a beautiful new sweater, stunning little cocktail dress or a dazzling statement necklace, but more importantly we want you to walk out of our door with a smile on your face. The ultimate goal is to give shoppers and browsers an overall pleasant experience.
AL: You’ve produce so many amazing fashion shows for your boutique! Do you think these shows have helped the boutique grow, or are they more just for fun?
CC: Absolutely, 100% yes they have helped Tre grow. Being located in Little Italy, not many people come here to shop. This neighborhood is known for the incredible restaurants, and is slowly but surely developing more boutiques and galleries. In order to stay relevant in the Cleveland Fashion industry, local business owners have to do things to make their style, store and brand stand out. After putting on Fashion Shows consistently for the past three years, I have received a lot of positive feedback and encouragement regarding the show production and quality. I feel as though with every show we improve slightly and seem to be attracting larger audiences as we do more events. Every single production is a learning experience, and the shows have become a huge part of my life. I don’t plan on letting up any time soon!
AL: How would you describe your personal style?
CC: My style seems to fluctuate often. I would describe my personal style as quite trendy, as I like to keep up to date with the latest. But I also enjoy classic styles that don’t change with the times. My personal style is all about the mood I am in that day and is also fueled by music. Versatility is key in fashion. One should never limit themselves to a certain color palette or particular cut only because it looks good on them and they are comfortable in it. Explore and try other options, you are bound to find endless styles, colors and cuts that flatter your body type.
AL: What are your future goals for Tre Sorelle?
CC: Where do I begin? Tre Sorelle was a dream that became a reality with effort and hard work, so because of that I believe can happen.
I would love to see Tre expand in Men’s Fashion has always been of interest. Tri Fratelli, which means “Three Brothers” in Italian, possibly happening down the road. Larger and more elaborate Fashion Shows on the way for 2015.
